Terms of Use — stedding.dev
Draft for the website’s terms page. Placeholders in square brackets are filled by the site owner; nothing in brackets may be invented by an implementer. Last reviewed: [DATE].
The website
stedding.dev is the website of Stedding Browser, an open-source web browser. The website is provided as information; it sells nothing and requires no account.
The software
Stedding Browser is free software under the BSD-3-Clause license. The full license text is in the source repository (https://github.com/ysalitrynskyi/stedding-browser/blob/main/LICENSE). In plain terms: you may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, with or without changes, provided the license notice is kept, and the software is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. The license, not this page, governs your use of the software.
Builds are published on GitHub Releases with a checksum beside each file. Verify the checksum before installing. Current builds are not code-signed; the release notes say so and describe the first-launch step on each platform.
Trademarks and names
- “Stedding” is the name of this browser. Forks are welcome under the license, but the BSD-3-Clause license does not permit using the name of the project or its contributors to endorse or promote derived products without written permission.
- Chromium is a trademark of Google LLC. Arc is a trademark of The Browser Company of New York, Inc. macOS is a trademark of Apple Inc. Windows is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation. These names are used only to describe compatibility and origin; no endorsement or affiliation is implied.
- The word “stedding” is borrowed as a metaphor from Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time. Only the word is used. No affiliation with, or endorsement by, the estate of Robert Jordan or any rights holder of that work is claimed or implied.

Brand assets (the mark, the wordmark) may be used to refer to Stedding, for example in a review or a package listing, but not to suggest endorsement.
No warranty, limitation of liability
The website and the software are provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, [LEGAL ENTITY OR PERSON] accepts no liability for damages arising from the use of the website or the software.
